Hello internet kids. After an unhealthily long hiatus, I have decided to become a livejournalist once more, and edit regularly. I do realize that is not as monumental a feat to you as it is to me. I also realize that i have several times before decided to become a regular user. I do realize that you all have no certain reason to believe that this time shall be different, but i promise you, and make every anti-boy-who-cried-wolf claim and swear on my long lost gypsy sister's make believe grave that i will let you all know what goes on in my life, albeit a tired and boring one.

The latest scoop....

Well. I notice that i was about 19 years old at the time of my last entry, and now being of legal age to enjoy the grit and grime and drinks and harlots of new orleans, one would imagine there would be many a tale to tell. Well no, quite the opposite.

i can divide my present state into six magnificently beautiful, and individually fantastic chunks:

1) Physical State- I am roughly the same height and weight that you would imagine i am. I have shorter hair and a bigger beard. My neck and shoulders are absurdly sore and tense. I have the greatest digestive system in the history of modern medicine.

2) Mental State- I for a while there developed what is called "Seasonal Affective Disorder," a silly little problem with several equally silly solutions. Do you know how the sky changes when winter rolls around? Well when you have SAD (heh) you do. You know it big time and it freaks you out and you dont know why. Then you go to the doctor and he tells you the deal. The deal being: There isnt enough natural light to keep all your wires connected, so you get a bit lazy and sad, and start feeling like you are constantly *this* close to figuring out all these deep truths about life and existence. and then you realize you should probably aren't gonna do that. then you are told that there is therapy, pills, or this magic light box(!) that you look at and it makes everything that was at first amiss, connect and work spledidly. naturally the last choice sounded uberto me, but i just decided to work my way through it alone and fixed the whole thing, now i feel great. i dont have panic attacks or any sort of worries, because i have come to the universal truth that its much better to just not.

3) Home- I live on the westbank for now, but am in the process of finding a suitable place for 3 friends and I. For the time being however, I sill reside with my mother and stepdad, and their two dogs. and my mothers collection of clay aiken memorabillia. and my secret but deep and intense hatred of the immediately previous.

4) Job- I bartend. nothing incredible. I'd like to work in a book shop, and dabbled in pro baseball. I have a killer slider and a love for the ironists matched only by my love of a worn old leather glove, and reading the Believer, during the seventh inning stretch at Wrigley, while Harry Carey's ghost massages my tired, 18 strike-out arm.

5) Favorites- I mostly eat healthy things now. I mostly drink southern comfort. I read Dave Eggers, Michael Chabon, and Chris Ware mostly. I mostly listen to things Alan Lomax recorded many yeard before I was a twinkle in my fathers eye. Or he in his fathers for that matter. I like old Appalachian folk songs, Old murder ballads and slave hymns. I also like new music. Mostly: Bonnie Prince Billy, the Decemberists, ---ok i have to stop right now to tell you all that while typing this, i saw an ad for a new Gene Simmons solo album. and it looks retarded. he covers firestarter by prodigy. they were retarded.i shouldnt use the word retarded. replace all previous uses with "really dumb"-- also i like Xiu Xiu, JOANNA NEWSOM, devandra barnhart, Neutral Milk Hotel, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Jolie Holland, and Kanye West.

6) Hobbies- I read and write a lot. I sang in a rock group called Antenna Inn for a while. We just disbanded last week. Im pretty sure no one was hit too hard. I play drums and guitar in a superband called Silent CInema that you should listen to or at least pretend to when i see you. I like records. I like to cook. I like to shop. I am a girl.

Somewhere far away someone was beheaded, i ask for a moment that you think not of that, but of music. I need your help.
I want to start this new band.

influences:

neutral milk hotel
joanna newsom
texas gladden
old folk songs from appalachian america, the south, and the bahamas
leadbelly
prison hymns

i need a violinist, a keyboardist and a percussionist
i would like: a lapsteel player, an accordion player, and a vibraphone player
i would love: if you bought me a new banjo

let me know.

i am not going to proofread this.
bye bye

GUESS WHO UPDATED

the show at tipitinas went well last night. i think my vocals sucked, which may be due to the fact that i have pharyngitis. i found this out at my doctors appointment this morning. my throat feels like death right now. apparently the reason my throat is all fucked out is my nose. you see my nose is all fucked up and i cant use the right side of it, never could.so all the goodness just drips into my throat and gives me pharyngitis over and over again.

so yeah i called in today and just kinda plopped aorund the house. i ordered dominoes for lunch. a pizza and 2 orders of those awesome chicken nuggets they sell with the buttermilk ranch dressing. im eating the second order right now.

other than that i did some cleaning, some AIMing and just watched the new Arsenio-hosted Star Search and discussed it with Kristin over the internet. boy is the new star search lame. one of the Judds, the oldest one, the mom, was a judge. i hate her. ben stein was a judge too, i hate him. and arsenio has comedy like i have ovaries.

but jack osbourne is a judge tomorrow night.

the rest of tonight is gonna consist of bitching and being pissy, watching one of my two new dvds (one flew over the cuckoos nest or curse of the jade scorpion) and more food. ........oh and DEFINITELY NOT 60 MINUTES. see ya im gonna go change the channel.

-i've been so busy with school and work and tv that i almost forgot to keep my promise of regularly updating this thing.
-so yesterday after a long night of kung pow watching and kristen and beth's . i went to my grandfathers EIGHTIETH birthday party at nine in the morning which was completely utterly dreadful and depressing. 80 years old. damn. lots of bad music. oh yeah and it rained on us so that was awesome too.
-then i went home and kinda stared at the walls and such, then met up with beth for some shopping. i bought the ladies man dvd for my step dad, and she bought some mittens. beths cool.
-umm then. oh yeah we ran into Charis. that was funny.
-thennnnnnnnnnnnnnn i dropped beth off and went to chevys and had some cheese quesadillas. word. then i went home till midnight. then off to ryans.
--i ate taco dip and watched tv with some friends until 4:30 when everyone else fell asleep. cory and i being the only people awake took it upon ourselves to go through all of ryans kitchen stuff and found some muffin mix. it was on. we went to the store to get milk as ryans house NEVER has milk. and came back and made muffins that were done around 5:15 and ended up going to sleep at about 6. which was awesome because the next thing i remember was waking up at like 9, stumbling around and then going "hey cory when do you need to go to work." cory looked at his phone blankly and muttered "umerrrrgggggghhh 20 minutes or so." as if that was a long time. then he nodded back to sleep for about 10 seconds. then jumped up all "oh shit"- like and packed up his shit and jetted. that was awesome.
hmmm work tonight. maybe something afterward.

To everyone who didnt go see Dredg the other night, you spent your night the wrong way. This was the best show i have seen in a long time.

We all got there early and got up in the front for dredg, they tore it down. The singer was one of the best new frontmen i have seen. He sang through a trumpet on a song and did various other tricks to get the vocal effects from the album.

Anywho after dredg played we all left, and saw them outside. They talked to us for a long time and seemed pretty happy that we were there to see them. i talked to the singer about music and he mentioned that he liked he mentioned he liked deathcab for cutie which was wierd. anywho they loaded us with free shit and filmed davids tatoo and we jetted.

other than that my nights have been pretty uneventful. work every night this week.

Come to chevys tonight on the westbank and witness history being made. all four members of chas brosco are working there tonight for the first tiem ever and it should be a party.

So the other day my dad comes to town. He, Tiff, and I go to Bourbon street where i eat 16 raw oysters in a matter of 10 minutes or so. lLike 5 minutes after eating them i suddenly felt like dying. Not like stomach sick, but like just freak out panicky and shit. it was bad. and we walked around on bourbon street for like 3 hours after and i was still wiggin. i have heard that raw oysters are bad for you. and im guessing bourbon street is not the best place to eat a food that is that sketchy. Anyway, it fucking blew.

The last couple of days i have been pretty out of it. Like people are talking and i dont really hear them at all. I think I was just exhausted. We went to white linen night the other night and i just kinda walked aroudn in all the galleries with my mind a total blank. I ran into a lot of interesting people and saw a lot of good artwork.

I felt better today though, i went to Antenna Inn practice and then to work which was fucking stupid. the new manager can blow me in hell.

Im playing with two bands this fridayat the Ark: Chas Brosco and Antenna Inn. Antenna Inn has elements of tortoise-ish jazz, ATDI "screamo", and hum. Come see us.
